Job Description

Cook Properties is a family owned and operated real estate management and development company. We own and manage 200,000+ square feet of commercial, retail, office space, 2000 self-storage units, and 39 parks with 4000 homes.

Job Overview

The ideal candidate will be responsible for timely and accurate preparation of financial accounting data in a variety of areas. It is essential that this candidate brings analytical and organizational skills in order to best support the accounting team.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage all aspects of accounts payable
  • Work closely with Regional Property Management to review accounts receivable
  • Work closely with the Regional Property Managers to facilitate month end close
  • Work closely with Accounting Manager(s) to facilitate month end close for assigned properties
  • Record depreciation
  • Maintain various account reconciliations
  • Responsible for recording various journal entries
  • Reconciling general ledger accounts
  • Miscellaneous other accounting tasks
  • Assisting in projects as they arise

Qualifications:

  • Associates degree or equivalent in Accounting, Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Minimum 3 years relevant experience in accounting
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail, analytical skills
  • Good data entry skills
  • Working knowledge of invoices and other documents, ability to identify critical information to be entered on system
  • Ability to reconcile, identify, research and resolve issues
  • Demonstrated ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement
  • Must be proficient in Excel and have general working knowledge of Word
  • Eagerness to work independently as well as part of a team with flexibility and willingness to learn and take initiative on variety of tasks and projects
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
